Nutella Pie

Nutella Pie

I took this pie to a dinner party, and it was a big hit. I can usually tell, because I didn't have much in the way of leftovers to take home. This is a super simple pie to make, and requires minimal baking! This recipe comes from First Prize Pies, by Allison Kave. I love this book. And it happens to be the place where I learned to put vinegar in pie crust (trust me...it works!). This pie is one of my favorite recipes from that book, but it is chock full of other amazing pies, some of which I am sure will make an appearance on this blog in the future.

YIELD: 8 servings
ACTIVE TIME: 20 minutes
TOTAL TIME: 1 hour

  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookies, crumbled into small peices
  • 6 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • 2 cups Nutella
  • 1 1/2 cups Mascarpone
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Chopped hazelnuts for topping

Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.

Crumble cookies into a food processor and process until finely ground. (Or just crush them by hand in a bag.) Pour the melted butter into the crumbled cookies and mix together using hands. Firmly press into the bottom and sides of the baking dish.

Bake the crust for 10 minutes, and allow to cool before filling.

In a large bowl, or using an electric stand mixer, beat together the Nutella, mascarpone, and salt until light and fully. Spread the filling into the cooled pie crust.

Refrigerate for about an hour.

Top pie with chopped nuts and serve.

Easy as pie!
